Intervention in public space with mirrors, 200 x 150 x 150 cm.
Berlin, 2015-2016

Tomas Espinosa’s installative series Neighborhood Relations is as aware of the aesthetics of sex club interiors as it is of the performativity of these movements, of looking and camouflaging in outdoor spaces. It is a game that invites the viewer who steps closer to experience his relationship to the place in question in multiple layers.

The construction or arrangement of the paravents is open on several sides or permeable through cutouts, allowing those inside or behind them both the inward and outward gaze of hiding and presenting; passersby strolling and voyeuristic pausing in equal measure.
