Gentle provocation as a poetic act is the theme of ‘Zwischen Uns (Between Us)’ which consists of an installation featuring elements of performance and sculpture. The ambiguous form of cucumbers becomes a conversation starter between artist and audience, instigating an interaction where tactility, teasing and even flirting is possible.

Clay, a messenger of primordial history and an intimately sensual medium, unexpectedly acts as a means of communication. Guests are invited to touch the intangible, to experience feelings invoked by objects simultaneously innocent and seductive, while the artist creates an atmosphere and pretext for interpersonal transcendence.

Seating in the middle of the market of Guangzhou for 8 hours, I presented cucumbers made of white clay to people, waiting for them to look into my eyes. I understand this work as a reflection upon encounters, about time – time to touch, time to speak, and time to share.
